Anni Powell Photography is moving to Whidbey Island, Washington August 2017!
One of the many reasons why I love couple sessions so much is because of the story behind the couple. Like every couple, each have their own love story that has led them to where they are today, which also happens to be in front of my camera.
When sending my clients all their info to book, I send a questionnaire and at the end I have them tell me a little about their story together. I do this for many reasons, to have topics of conversation to help them open up, but to also help me as a photographer figure out who they are. I am a people person, so I would ask them anyways their story, but I love that from the very get go they know I am invested in them as well.
When reading Laura’s entry, she explained how her and her husband Jerek have been together since highschool, and that although they are now married, they never had professional pictures taken, especially at their wedding. This touched me in a way because I know so many young military couples, like myself, eloped and never had anything more than a selfie of that actual day so I wanted to make sure their session was amazing(insert all the feels).
As we planned their couples session, Laura mentioned involving ice cream.. um yes please! I will never say no to icecream. The original plan to go to one icecream shop quickly changed as it was closed and being remodeled. We compromised and went to the Godiva Shop (yesssssss), and as they began to order their icecream, the only flavor they had been chocolate, which is not Jareks favorite but he was a good sport and went along with it anyways. So as I was editing these, I found a small amount of humor in knowing that he didn’t like the chocolate but pretended to (oh the things we do for love).
As I was working with Laura and Jarek, their love for each other was undeniable with every frame I captured. They laughed, they kissed, they held each other close, and knowing I was capturing these sweet moments for them made what I do so rewarding. We traveled all around downtown getting a small variety of locations (really they were all in walking distance) but it made their session everything she has said she wanted.
Laura expressed many times how much doing these pictures meant to her, and I am so glad that I was the one to help them preserve their memories.
