Samantha, like most soon to be new mothers, was absolutely glowing. When we started planning her maternity session before I arrived to Whidbey Island, we had planned to have her session at Fort Casey. When we met for our consultation after I arrived to Oak Harbor, she informed me that she would like to change her location. All she had to do was say sunflowers and I was sold. After being on Guam for so long, and admiring different floral blooms from a distance, I was excited to have the opportunity to photograph in flowers. So instead of heading to Fort Casey, we heading Northing towards Bellingham to a little field just right on the side of the road.
The location was super cute. It showcased sunflowers, but also an amazing mountain view with a field as well. At the time, I was still experimenting with lighting here. Trying new things and getting used to photographing backlit until the sun was just right. I love locations that offer a variety of different scenic options. The Pacific North West has proven to get a variety of different backdrops within walking distance of each other.
Samantha wanted a light and airy look which is exactly what my style is, so I knew(or hoped) that her session would be everything she hoped for.
