Like love most stories, this one is beautiful. When Jimmy reached out to me to do a session for him, he had an idea up his sleeve.. to propose to his girlfriend while they were visiting Seattle for the Seahawks game. They both currently live in California, so to plan this not only from a distance, but also without raising suspicion was hard. Surprise proposals are so much fun. Jimmy and I worked together and had less than a week to pull it all together. This would include the HOW we would get his girlfriend in front of a camera, and also the WHERE. Once the details of this surprise proposal were underway, the big day finally arrived. Im getting used to the unpredictable weather here in the Pacific North West, and when I woke up the morning of our session, it was SNOWING in Oak Harbor. All the way down to Seattle for our session it had snowed and rained, BUT the surprise must go on.
The original location was at a beach, but due to the weather we decided the day before to try and find a location that was covered with trees. Our location was Schmitz Preserve Park in Seattle. I loved all the fall colors! And I know these two being from California would enjoy having the pops of yellow, orange and vibrant greens that they do not get to see often. By the time we were ready to begin, the rain had pretty much stopped and we had beautiful trees covering us from the sprinkles that were still occuring.
We started out just casual. Kaitlyn thought it was a couples session so Jimmy had to wait the entire session just to pop the question. There was no doubt everytime he looked at her, he was so in love with her. It was beautiful.
As anticipation grew, the butterflies in my stomach were fluttering, so I can only suspect how Jimmy must have felt when that moment finally came. We turned Kaitlyn around, her back away from Jimmy. I told her I wanted to get a certain shot of him standing behind her, and said I saw it on Pinterest and thought it was a cute pose. That was his que to grab the ring.
And when we turned her around, Jimmy was down on one knee, and SHE SAID YES!
It could not have been more perfect.
